Review by Holy Hell Webzine

This one is long overdue, hailing from Rio de Janeiro Gutted Souls and their 2012 E.P.(Unconscious Automaton) displays some of the most brutal, and original deathmetal in quite some time!
Dancing to the Sound of the Powers that be... starts this carve and hack routine... killer riffing, fast time changes, and brutal vocals, very death yet controlled style of this type..killer track.
Psychopathic Ruler violently stabs through once again displaying some hellish riffing, killer single foot smashing, and brutal breakdowns and well thought out formulas..the Undying Stars (my favorite track) is pure fucking deathmetal..this far into their world they have your soul, and riffing, fast fucking grind and killer vocals rip through and killing any one in it's way, ending this brutal murder. Words of Hate is classic death, there is alot of talent in this band, and there is no doubt in my mind, that they are on there way to bigger things to come, write this band, merch is available, this E.P. fucking kills.

Interview for The Core of Brutality - Gutted Souls

http://thecoreofbrutality.blogspot.com.br/2012/11/gutted-souls-interview.html

1.Can i get a backstory on the band/ band biography?

GUTTED SOULS started in 2004 when the members of the band NECROPEDOPHILE, after launching their demo FETAL GORE of 2002, started deviating from their proposed path of making Traditional Death Metal in the vein of Cannibal Corpse, Sinister, Morbid Angel and such. As the musicians started to become more proficient in their respective instruments, the musical direction changed to something more Technical and Progressive. The band made an impact on the local scene, but lost quickly the original guitarist, around this time. After that the band suffered countless setbacks, with numerous line-up changes, and the sole remaining founding member is Iron (Anopsy, Ex-Devoration, Ex-Diisgraça). But the idea of making Death Metal with lyrics that you would actually want to read, and a desire to inform about the realities of psychopathy, midiatic manipulation, the corruption of science and religion, made the band resist. Now the band is with an stable formation, all sharing the same vision, and ready to dish out our way of seeing Technical Death Metal.
----------------------------------

2. What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

The band speaks against midiatic corruption in the world, against pathocracy and the huge control exerted by the psychopathic elite on the masses. Occasionally the band touches on some esoterica aspects of existence, and existential concerns.
----------------------------------

3. How have the gigs you guys been doing been?

The band has made some pretty awesome gigs in the past, where everything you would look would be mosh pits. Mosh everywhere. But because of the problems with line-ups we have been away from the stage for years. Now we are returning and finding our live presence again.
----------------------------------

4. What equipment do you guys use?

Standard stuff. Since I'm the vocalist, I can not tell specifics, but since the band is very preoccupied with having a good live sound, we are always on the search for better equipment, within our possibilities since we are broke bastards.
----------------------------------

5. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

Mainly Technical Death Metal and traditional Death, and the occasional Brutal Death stuff. Things like Origin, Suffocation, Sinister, Death, Decapitated, Cannibal Corpse. But we like a lot of diverse music, so we listen to Dream Theater, Jazz-Fusion stuff like Greg Howe, and much more.
----------------------------------

6. Do you remember your first show and what was it like?

It was on a school gymnasium... the place was kinda crowded, and we were opening for an well established heavy metal band... it was very weird to play Death Metal (and very raw Death at that time) for an public of mostly heavy and prog heads. But it went well, people liked us.
----------------------------------

7.What made you guys decide to form a band?

The desire of making music to change things and love for Death Metal. Love for Death Metal remains.
----------------------------------

8.What is your opinion on sites posting your guys material and other bands material?

Very positive, the more exposure for the bands, the better!
----------------------------------

9.Is there any bands that you guys enjoyed playing with more then the others?

There are bands we have NOT enjoyed playing, and its not much to do with the sound, as with the attitude of the bands.
----------------------------------

10. How do you guys feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres and how some get a negative rep.

Well sometimes the emphasis on classifying things gets somewhat old. And rarely the new "genres" are refreshing and innovative. Usually is some watered-down version of the real thing.
----------------------------------

11. What song do you enjoy playing the most?

Of our most recent compositions, The Undying Stars.
----------------------------------

12. When not doing things with the band, what can you guys be seen doing?

Well, I work in the field of Biochemical research, and other band mates work on various things.
----------------------------------

13.Your biggest band moment?

Still to come.
----------------------------------

14. What is your opinion on the current state of metal?

Well, we have thousands of great bands, I think actually that we have more great bands than people to listen to them. And I hope I am wrong.
----------------------------------

15. How did you guys come up with your band name?

Gutted Souls, the souls gutted by the angst of injustice. Gutted by not being themselves.
----------------------------------

16. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

Atualmente a formação é: Iron - Vocais, Wellington Ferrari - Baixo, Leandro Alves - Guitarra e Alexandre AOCB - Bateria.

Brazillian Bands - Lacerated and Carbonized

Artist: Lacerated and Carbonized
Genre: Brutal Death Metal

Influenced by the likes of Origin, Decapitated, Aeon, Suffocation, Deicide and others, we are fast, groovy, and every song has its unique "face".

This Video features one of the songs that we are working to release after our Debut... we are a busy bunch!
